Despite Spain’s success over Germany, Barcelona midfielder Pedri’s campaign came to a disappointing end after he picked up an ankle injury in the quarterfinal.

Pedri was the subject of a rash challenge by now-retired Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos. The injury ruled him out of Euro 2024 and could reportedly keep him on the sidelines for at least six weeks.

Kroos was quick to issue an apology to Pedri, who has had his fair share of injury problems in the past. This latest blow could take a further toll on his mental state.

Pedri’s message to Kroos

In a recent Instagram post, Pedri has finally issued a response to Kroos’ message, showcasing brilliant sportsmanship.

Pedri refused to blame the German international and called the unfortunate incident a part and parcel of professional football.

“Thank you Toni Kroos for your message. This is football and these things happen. Your career and your record remain forever,” Pedri wrote in his Instagram post.

While Pedri’s absence from Euro 2024 is a loss for Spain, his positive attitude is a boost to team morale.

His message for Kroos, meanwhile, could serve as a sigh of relief for the German midfielder, who would have wanted his final professional game to end differently.

Looking ahead, Pedri’s focus will shift to recovery. Six weeks on the sidelines is a significant setback, but the midfielder will be hopeful of being available for Barcelona at the start of the new season.
