In what could be a massive boost for Barcelona ahead of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final second leg tie against Borussia Dortmund, it has come to light that Dani Olmo has been medically cleared to play.
Interestingly, his return marks a crucial moment as he has been sidelined since late March after suffering a muscle injury in his right leg during Barcelona’s match against Osasuna.
Fortunately, the midfielder has made a timely return, as all the expectations for his recovery have now been met.
Meanwhile, it is said that despite recent developments, Barcelona’s coaching and medical staff will remain extremely cautious regarding his return.
This is because of Olmo’s injury history. For now, there is absolutely no rush to integrate him back into the starting XI.
In fact, the team plans to manage his recovery carefully, allowing him to regain match fitness and then allot him regular playing time.
It must be noted that Olmo has missed a total of 15 matches this season through injuries and this includes Barcelona’s recent clash against Leganes.
However, his return could not have come at a better moment, as Barcelona are still alive in all competitions this season.
Furthermore, Olmo’s return also brings hope of a strong performance in the Champions League and this is because he has a solid record against Borussia Dortmund, having faced them nine times in his career.
In those matches, the Spaniard has been on the winning side five times, with four losses.
His most recent encounter with the German team was during the group stage of this season’s edition, where he helped Barcelona secure a 3-2 victory, providing an assist in the win.
While it is too early to suggest that he will start the game, Barcelona will anyway try to make the most of Olmo’s creativity and vision in their quest to overcome Borussia Dortmund.
