With Barcelona keen on offloading Franck Kessie this summer, Anais Marti of La Vanguardia has come up with a fresh update on the situation of the 26-year-old midfielder.

It has only been a year since Kessie joined the Blaugrana but he could be on his way out already due to the club’s need to generate revenue and reduce their salary mass.

Even though he has appeared reluctant to leave, it is believed that Kessie will accept a departure if a good offer comes along.

And, as per the aforementioned report, Kessie will not be making the trip to the United States of America for Barça’s pre-season tour as the club hope to finalise his departure before that or leave him behind to sort out his next club.

Kessie is attracting a lot of interest from Saudi Arabia, with an offer worth €14 million per year net already on his table. Should he complete the move to the Middle East, Barcelona stand to pocket around €20 million in transfer fees.

However, the 26-year-old does not wish to move to Saudi Arabia at this stage of his career and wishes to continue playing at the highest level in Europe.

As such, Chelsea could be a possible destination for the Ivory Coast international, with the Blues understood to be interested in his services.

The Blues have parted ways with several of their midfielders this summer in N’Golo Kante, Mason Mount, and Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Conor Gallagher could also be on his way out.

As such, they are on the lookout for reinforcements in midfield, with Kessie being a player that new manager Mauricio Pochettino likes.

A move to the Premier League could also appeal to Kessie while Chelsea would also be able to hand him a lucrative contract and pay a good transfer fee to Barcelona.

So, it remains to be seen how things progress with regard to the midfielder’s future. But there are chances that the Ivorian might not be a part of the pre-season tour to the US.
