Barcelona sporting director Deco recently held a meeting with the representatives of Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo (citing Jijantes sources), who point towards Barca potentially preparing to throw a spanner in the works of their fiercest rivals.

The name of full-back Davies, of course, has long taken its place front and centre in the Spanish media headlines.

This comes amid the widespread understanding that the Canadian international has been identified as a leading target on the part of the transfer team at Real Madrid.

Keen to reinforce the club’s options at left-back with a view to next season, Los Blancos have long been locked in talks with Davies and his team, over the possibility of linking up in the summer.

In turn, it will no doubt come as a source of concern for Real to hear of those on the other side of the Clásico divide beginning to express an interest in the Bayern Munich standout, too.

As per the aforementioned MD, Davies’ entourage last week met with representatives from the Santiago Bernabéu once more.

Just a day later, though, a sit-down was also held with Barcelona director Deco.

The terms of a summer deal are understood to have been discussed between the parties, as Davies seeks to keep his options open for the 2024/25 campaign.

And yet, despite as much, it should be noted that Real Madrid remain the clear frontrunners for the signature of the explosive defender.

Barcelona are understood to maintain faith in the talents of Alejandro Balde, who, despite a difficult season this time round, is considered the future of the club’s left flank by a host of key figures in the Camp Nou boardroom.

A move for Davies, as a result, would likely only be forthcoming in the case of Balde being moved on this summer – a development which, at present, looks more than unlikely.
