It only seems a matter of time before Xavi Hernandez is given his marching orders from FC Barcelona with Joan Laporta deciding to sack the club legend only weeks after reaffirming his faith in him in a joint press conference.

The soap opera has been going on since late January when Xavi announced that he would step down as manager at the end of the season.

The upturn of form seen after that compelled Laporta & co. to convince Xavi to continue and the manager agreed on that, only for the hierarchy to turn their stance again last week.

Xavi rejected South Korea

Now, Mundo Deportivo reports that a few weeks after he had announced his departure late in January, Xavi Hernandez was approached by the South Korean national team.

The 44-year-old Barcelona legend received a proposal from the Asian nation to take over as their manager after having sacked Jurgen Klinsmann.

Xavi was grateful to the South Korean Football Federation for their proposal but politely turned it down, even though at that time he was firm that he would not continue at Barcelona beyond June 30.

Xavi to sacked on Monday

Meanwhile, Xavi will learn of his fate at Barcelona this upcoming Monday when a meeting will take place between him and the club hierarchy, including president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco.

During that meeting, the 44-year-old will be told about his sacking and soon after, his replacement will also likely be announced, with Hansi Flick reaching an agreement to take over the reins at the Catalan club.
