Barcelona have earmarked AS Monaco full-back Vanderson as one of their top targets for the summer transfer window, according to Sport.

The Catalan giants are scouring the market for a top-quality right-back due to the lack of options in the current squad.

Ronald Araujo and Jules Kounde have been deployed as makeshift right-backs this season, but Xavi can’t rely on them heading into next season.

Sergino Dest is likely to return from his loan spell at AC Milan this summer but could be on the move again as he is not in the plans of Xavi.

The report adds that Deco, one of the leading contenders for the sporting director role, has handpicked Vanderson as one of his priority targets.

The Portuguese agent and scout, who also serves as transfer advisor for the Blaugrana in Brazil, has been monitoring Vanderson for a long time, even before he moved from Gremio to Monaco.

The 21-year-old has had an impressive debut season with Monaco this term, bagging one goal and five assists in 35 appearances in all competitions.

The Brazilian youngster’s stock remains intact, with Monaco valuing him at around €60 million.

Benjamin Pavard, Joao Cancelo and Juan Foyth have also emerged as targets for the Blaugrana to reinforce the right-back position.

Pavard’s contract with Bayern Munich expires in 2024, and the German giants plan to hold talks over a renewal.

The French defender could be available for a cut-price fee if he opts against an extension and has previously expressed his desire to play for Barca.

Barca view Cancelo as a far-fetched target due to his expensive price tag, although the Catalan giants have a great relationship with his agent Jorge Mendes.

A temporary move is a feasible option if Barca want to secure Cancelo’s services, with the player currently on loan at Bayern from Manchester City.

Deco is also tasked with helping Barca reduce their wage bill. He could find a way out for his client Raphinha, who has been subject to an €80m bid from Newcastle United.
