The powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona have initiated contacts regarding the potential signing of a headline member of the attacking ranks at Italian champions Napoli.
The player in question? Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Wide-man Kvaratskhelia, of course, has long been considered one of the standout talents in Serie A.
After turning heads across the continent courtesy of a stellar haul of 14 goals and 17 assists en route to Napoli’s historic Scudetto triumph last season, the Georgian has endured something of a quieter term this time round.
Amidst the Partenopei’s ongoing struggles, though, Kvara has nevertheless managed to contribute 10 goals and six assists, production which has evidently not gone unappreciated by the aforementioned Barcelona.
On the lookout for reinforcements on the left flank, the Blaugrana, it is understood, have set their sights on the 23-year-old.
As per a report from Diario AS, ‘his name appears on Barcelona’s list of objectives’.
Not only that, but, over the last couple of weeks, Deco and his transfer team made contact with Kvaratskhelia’s representatives, to explore the parameters of a potential deal.
In reality, though, despite the Georgian’s agent having recently hinted at his client’s openness to making the move to Spain, such a transfer looks highly unlikely.
Napoli are braced to bid farewell to star frontman Victor Osimhen this summer, and will do their utmost to ensure that Kvara does not follow him out the door.
A bid in the region of €130 million would therefore likely be required to convince the board in Naples of the merits of a sale.
