At this point, it is well-publicised that Barcelona sporting director Mateu Alemany and CEO Ferran Reverter had travelled to England this week. Speculations have been running wild claiming that the pair were there to negotiate a transfer for Ferran Torres from Premier League champions Manchester City.

Reports have also claimed that the Blaugrana also have Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva on their agenda apart from Torres and all names are being discussed ahead of the January transfer window.

Now, Ara (h/t Mundo Deportivo) reports that Barca are not restricting themselves to the blue half of Manchester and have cast their eyes across town at Manchester United as well, making enquiries for Anthony Martial.

Signed from AS Monaco in 2015 in a deal worth €50 million, the 25-year-old forward has struggled to perform consistently at the highest level for the Red Devils. The Frenchman has found himself well down the pecking order at Old Trafford this term, with Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcus Rashford, Edinson Cavani, Mason Greenwood and Jadon Sancho all ahead of him.

Indeed, Martial has started just four games in all competitions, scoring just one goal. Given his situation, there is a feeling that Manchester United might be open to a parting of ways, although things could change in the coming weeks.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been sacked as manager recently, with the 20-time English champions set to name Ralf Rangnick as the interim boss. So, Martial’s future at Old Trafford could depend on what plans the German has for him.

As for Barcelona, they are looking to add more attacking players to their ranks in January. And someone like the Manchester United star, who can play anywhere across the frontline and has his best years in front of him, can be a good addition, in the right kind of system.

So, the Blaugrana are understood to have made enquiries for Martial and are likely to continue keeping tabs on his developing situation at Manchester United.
