FC Barcelona continue with their planning for the upcoming season, and the sporting department has already made several important decisions, having completed numerous contract renewals earlier this year.
More renewals are expected in the coming months with players like Raphinha, Jules Kounde, and Frenkie de Jong in line for new extensions.
Now, according to SPORT, Barcelona are also planning to renew the contract of Eric Garcia, whose current deal expires in 2026.
The Blaugrana do not want any player involved in the next project to have just one year left on their deal. The plan is to extend his contract for a further three years, until 2029, and an agreement is highly likely.
As such, they have informed Garcia of their intention to extend his contract and hope to reach an agreement before 30 June with Hansi Flick requesting his continuity.

The centre-back had to leave on loan last season because he was not part of Xavi Hernandez’s plans and went on to have an excellent campaign on loan at Girona before returning to Barcelona.
His future was uncertain in the summer, but due to injuries in defence, the club decided to keep him until January. There were talks of an exit in the winter again with Girona coming calling again but Flick decided to block his departure.
Since then, Garcia has been getting more minutes and made decisive contributions in several matches, leading Flick to request his continued presence.
Garcia has proven himself to be a valuable player thanks to his versatility, filling in at centre-back, defensive midfield, and right-back.
The coaching staff is extremely pleased with his gameplay and professionalism and are convinced that he can continue to grow.
Garcia, for his part, is committed to succeeding at Barcelona. The 24-year-old understands his role and knows he has a chance to fight for a regular starting spot. As such, reaching an agreement over a renewal should not be a major issue.
