Barcelona looking to immediately improve 17-year-old gem’s salary | OneFootball

Since his debut with the Barcelona first team in the 2022-23 season, Lamine Yamal has taken some giant leaps towards proving himself to be a truly remarkable footballer in the last year.

His performance against Girona last night, which included a first-half brace, was only the latest reminder of how much the youngster has grown in the last few months. This season, he already has three goals and four assists to his name in five appearances, which are the numbers of a truly world-class superstar.

The pace at which Yamal has grown has been spectacular, but some other aspects of his career have not advanced at a matching speed. This is particularly the case with his Barcelona contract, which came into force only less than a year ago, but which already fails to do justice with his status in the team.

According to MARCA, Barcelona are aware of this issue and are ready to improve Yamal’s salary as he is now a reference player for the first team. The youngster is currently earning one and a half million annually and the Catalans are ready to give him an immediate bump in the salary.

Both the Catalan club and the player’s agent, Jorge Mendes, are clear that such an improvement should take place. They will negotiate the increase in salary in the coming days, but in these negotiations, they will also lay the foundations for a new contract for the youngster.

The idea of such a renewal has already been discussed between the two parties in the negotiations for the previous renewal, as it was agreed that Yamal would sign his first professional contract when he turns 18 years of age. The economic conditions of this new contract will now be more in line with the performances that the youngster is putting in and thus give him a significant financial boost.
