A recent report from SPORT has shared that Barcelona might not get the money they hoped for from Oscar Mingueza’s potential sale this summer.

This is because the former Barça defender, who now plays for Celta Vigo, is close to signing a new contract with the La Liga club.

If he renews, it would mean Barcelona won’t cash in anytime soon on the 50% future sale clause they kept when they let him go for free in 2022.

Earlier this year, there was a chance for Barcelona to earn from Mingueza’s transfer. Aston Villa showed interest in signing him during the winter window, but that move didn’t happen.

Barcelona had hoped he would leave this summer, which would have brought some extra money into their accounts. He has a €20 million clause in his contract, meaning that Barcelona would have pocketed €10 million in case of his transfer

But now, everything suggests Mingueza will extend his deal with Celta until 2026, forcing Barça to keep waiting for any potential payout.

Barcelona have done decent business

Even though Mingueza’s situation is proving tricky, Barcelona have still managed to bring in over €17 million from the sales of other former players.

They received €8.5 million from Jean-Clair Todibo’s transfer to West Ham, €600,000 for Ilaix Moriba’s move to Celta, €400,000 when Alex Collado joined Al Shamal, and €200,000 for Jutglà’s transfer to Celta.

On top of that, Ludovit Reis’ sale to Brugge added €1.5 million, and Como activated the purchase option for Alex Valle, paying another €6 million.

All these deals have helped Barcelona earn much-needed money. Soon, they are also expecting €5 million more from Mallorca when Pablo Torre’s transfer is finalised.

However, to make any money from Mingueza, Barcelona will need to be patient and hope a future transfer comes through, as his renewal with Celta looks likely.
