Barcelona currently have two of the best wingers in the world in their ranks, namely, Raphinha and Lamine Yamal.
The former has seen a hybrid role this season, playing both centrally and out wide based on the manager’s tactics. The teenager, however, has been a lethal force on the team’s right flank.
Despite having two world-class names, there is a feeling that the squad requires one more high-profile winger as an option to rotate and utilise as an impact player and several names have been scouted on that front.
Indeed, Rafael Leao stands out as one of the most promising options for the Catalans next summer and is a player who will add immense quality to the left flank.

As revealed by Cat Radio (h/t FCBWorld), however, Nico Williams continues to be a real option for the Blaugrana as a possible signing next summer and they still have their eyes on the Basque star.
Nico, after all, was Barcelona’s primary target for last summer’s transfer window and was even very close to making the move. The player, though, changed his decision at the last minute and opted to stay at Athletic Club for one more year.
The Spanish outlet further adds that, while many on the board like Nico’s profile, they fear that his arrival may distract Yamal who is very close to the player.
The Catalans see Yamal as the pioneer of their future project and thus wish to safeguard him. Bringing the Basque winger will indeed please the player but has equal potential to distract him.
So far this season, the 22-year-old has made 11 appearances in La Liga and has just one goal and one assist to his name. Needless to say, he has been unable to hold up in quality after the Euro 2024.
