The 2022 edition of the FIFA World Cup witnessed one of its most exciting matches when tournament favourites Argentina beat the Netherlands in the quarterfinals through a penalty shootout, a match that witnessed Lionel Messi’s team sealing a place in the semifinals.

The result saw Barcelona stars Memphis Depay and Frenkie de Jong exit the tournament, meaning the club are now left with only a handful number of players in the World Cup.

The tournament had initially kicked off with a record number of 17 Barcelona players, eight of which belonged to the Spanish national team.

But as we head towards the semifinal stage of the competition, Barcelona now only have a total of three players competing in the tournament.

The list includes a couple of players from the French team in the form of Ousmane Dembele and Jules Kounde. Both the players have played a crucial role for Les Bleus this campaign and are most likely among the Barça players to lift the coveted title.

The other player on this list is Moroccan starlet Abde Ezzalzouli. The young winger is currently on loan at CA Osasuna, a club he joined in the summer. He is by far the most surprising inclusion on the list after Morocco beat Spain in the Round of 16.

All three of these Barcelona players will be in action today as Morocco take on Portugal in the afternoon fixture, whereas France will meet England, which is one of the highly-anticipated matches of the tournament so far.
