There were no new additions to the FC Barcelona squad in the recently closed winter transfer window, but there are certain areas of the team that the Catalans are looking to reinforce in the next transfer window.

One such area is that of the right-back, where Hansi Flick wants more depth, as Jules Kounde has been playing almost every possible minute, and Hector Fort has not been able to become a reliable option for the German tactician.

In this regard, both the coaching and the sporting department are clear that an effort should be made next summer, and there is a clear list of candidates in their minds.

According to SPORT, one of the players in this list is the Almeria fullback Marc Pubill, whom the technical secretariat continues to monitor as their most favored candidate.

The Spaniard was close to joining the Blaugranes last summer on loan with a purchase option. However, the Catalans were unable to conclude this operation because they did not have any salary margin to incorporate him.

For now, Barcelona have already spoken to his entourage to keep him under control and to keep him avoidant of committing to any other team.

Meanwhile, the player himself wants to end the season with Almeria and help his team get promoted to La Liga, and then make the jump to a top team. His agent has a very good relationship with Barcelona, and he himself had given the nod to a move to the Catalan club last summer.

Thus, the Blaugranes have a good chance of achieving this transfer, and more developments in this regard are expected to take place in March. His arrival would definitely help the team in a key position, allowing Kounde to get more rest between games, but for now, it remains to be seen how his future pans out.
