Xavi Simons has become a hot topic of sorts in Barcelona circle lately, as the club look to weigh up a move for the PSG talent in the coming summer.

Currently plying his trade for RB Leipzig, Simons has been hugely successful in the Bundesliga. This has led many European giants, including Barcelona, to take note and eye a potential move at the end of the season.

Barcelona ‘love’ Simons

According to Matteo Moretto, FC Barcelona rate Simons very highly and absolutely ‘love’ the player. The club like the player’s characteristics and what he brings to the table.

Even Xavi Hernandez is thought to be a huge fan of Simons and wants him to join the Barça camp in the coming summer.

Simons, for his part, appears keen on returning to Catalonia. For him, Barcelona represents his home, with the youngster being a former graduate of the famed La Masia youth academy.

Barcelona, though, have yet to hold any talks with Paris Saint-Germain over the future of Simons. But in a boost for Barça, PSG are likely to favour a loan deal for Simons, while RB Leipzig are not in a position to sign him permanently.

How Simons deal will impact Barcelona’s operation

Matteo Moretto adds that the potential addition of Xavi Simons may not have much of an impact on Barcelona’s plans with Joao Felix.

The club, as established earlier, will try to extend the Portuguese international’s loan deal if the operation is favourable.

However, should Simons join Barça, the club may alter or outright abandon plans to sign other targets in the market, including the likes of Nico Williams and Dani Olmo, another former member of the academy.
