Diaz bagged five goals at the tournament last month as Uruguay finished runners-up behind Brazil.

Barcelona need to cut their cloth in the upcoming transfer windows.

They are unable to splash the cash due to their financial circumstances.

Diaz will not cost them an arm and a leg, and the Blaugrana could do with such a player given his huge potential.

The 20-year-old has played 106 games across all competitions for the Uruguayan Primera Division club.

He boasts huge experience and could immediately become a regular in Barca.

The central midfielder has already been called up to the Uruguay senior team. He made their 55-man preliminary squad for the World Cup in Qatar.

Diaz was selected in the Uruguayan Primera Division Team of the Year last term.

He won the Supercopa Uruguaya in 2020 and could be a quality long-term addition to the Catalans’ midfield.

Barcelona are expected to sell several players this summer.

Sergio Busquets has been linked with an exit and Frenkie de Jong could also be on his way.

Diaz may be moving to Europe sooner or later due to his massive quality.

Barca will continue to monitor him and could look to swoop on him during the next transfer window.

However, they are unlikely to be the only top club watching the youngster.
