FC Barcelona have spent much of this summer pondering over very specific targets. Alas, complications continued to pop up and made it rather difficult for the club to finalise signings. Fortunately, Barcelona is now in a much more stable position to make further decisions this summer.
After all, the most time-consuming and important operation for them in recent weeks was the arrival of a new left-winger. Ultimately, after weeks of assessing various options in the market this summer, Barcelona ended up signing Marcus Rashford on a loan deal.

At long last, Hansi Flick’s desired transfer ended up happening, and a new left-winger has been signed. Moreover, the English forward was even supposed to possibly play some minutes against Vissel Kobe in Japan, but that match got cancelled entirely.
Now, with new potential market opportunities to consider, Barcelona could potentially look to take a peek into the market again, and a recent report even claims that they have entered the race for another player.
According to CaughtOffside, Liverpool centre-back Ibrahima Konate has continued to attract interest from the likes of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain. However, the latest update states that both Barcelona and Bayern Munich have joined the race as well.
The Catalan giants, in particular, seem to be a rather surprising addition to this race. With Ronald Araujo, Jules Kounde, Pau Cubarsi, Inigo Martinez, Eric Garcia, and even Andreas Christensen for now all being able to play as centre-backs, reinforcements in that position are not exactly needed.
However, since the player still has not signed a new contract with Liverpool and is yet to commit himself to a new club, he remains an accessible target.
With just a year left on his contract, Liverpool do not exactly have a lot of bargaining power if a proper suitor comes knocking to negotiate. For Barcelona, this could potentially open the door for them to assess his situation if it continues like this moving forward.
The €60 million-rated player, as per Transfermarkt, remains a key target for Real Madrid in particular this summer. However, with the possible interest of Barcelona and Bayern Munich now there to be considered as well, Los Blancos might end up accelerating the move even though the clubs in question are reportedly more interested in waiting out the situation between Konate and Liverpool. After all, there is just a year left on his contract, and he would then become a free agent.
