Barcelona interfere in Sevilla transfer deal at the last moment | OneFootball

Sevilla could miss out on the signing of a key summer transfer target owing to the interference of La Liga rivals Barcelona.

That’s according to Diario Sport, citing a number of outlets across Spain, who point towards Ponferradina’s Álex Costa as the player at the heart of the saga.

The name of attacker Costa has proven an altogether prominent one in the headlines at Sevilla over recent days.

This comes after widespread confirmation was forthcoming that the 22-year-old was closing on a move to Andalusia, with a view to linking up with Sevilla’s reserve outfit.

Costa went as far as to travel for a medical with the Nervionenses earlier this week.

As of yet, though, no final agreement on the transfer has been found.

And as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the Spanish media is anything to go by, as much could well be owing to the sudden emergence of Barcelona in the Costa sweepstakes.

As per a report from Sport:

‘From the capital of Andalusia there are several media outlets that report Barça’s interruption in the operation, which would have generated doubts in the player to the point of rethinking his future.’

The final decision, it would appear, will now be left up to Costa himself.
