Barcelona are interested in signing Chelsea defenders Andreas Christensen and Cesar Azpilicueta on free transfers this summer.

Christensen and Azpilicueta are both out of contract at Chelsea at the end of the season and have so far failed to agree terms on extensions to their deals, with Barcelona monitoring the situation of the defensive duo as the club look for cost-efficient signings this summer.

Christensen has been linked with both Barcelona and Bayern Munich as contract talks at Stamford Bridge stall, with Thomas Tuchel having spoken openly about the centre-back’s situation last month.

Having previously indicated a new deal was close, the German urged Christensen to show his commitment to Chelsea and sign a new contract, but there has since been no new announcements regarding his situation.

Fabrizio Romano has reported that Chelsea are also waiting on a decision from Azpilicueta, who could be open to a move to Spain after a decade at Chelsea this summer.

The 32-year-old has made 455 appearances for the west Londoners since arriving from Marseille in 2012, winning two league titles and the Champions League amongst his seven major honours.

Reports in Spain have suggested Barcelona are willing to offer the Spain international a two-year deal with the option of a further season, a contract Chelsea will likely be unwilling to match given their policy of offering only one-year extensions for players over the age of 30.

Chelsea are also yet to agree terms with Antonio Rudiger with the defender also a free agent this summer and the Germany international has been linked with a move to Real Madrid.
