Barcelona are always more interested in players that have the ability to show up against Real Madrid, and 17-year-old Italian talent Mattia Liberali did just that in AC Milan‘s 1-0 win over Los Blancos earlier this week. Paulo Fonseca handed Liberali a start in Chicago, and performed well in his 66 minutes.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Liberali is on Barcelona’s radar, in a report carried by MD. The 17-year-old has 28 caps and 6 goals for the Azzurri under-17s, and made it into the team of the tournament in the most recent under-17 Euros. The Rossoneri are planning to work him into the first-team dynamics this coming season though, and no move is reported as imminent.
Liberali has a contract until 2026, and Milan will no doubt be considering giving him a longer contract once the summer transfer window is over. At that age, Barcelona will be tracking the talents that stand out to them, but there is no clear path to the first team in Catalonia either.
