In a major update, Ferran Correas of SPORT is reporting that Barcelona now intend to loan out teenage striker Vitor Roque in the summer transfer window.

The 19-year-old centre-forward signed for Barcelona last summer in a deal worth €61 million last summer but stayed at Athletico Paranaense for the first half of the season.

Barcelona brought him into the fold during the winter transfer window, but the teenage prodigy has found it extremely hard to get minutes under Xavi Hernandez.

As such, rumours of a loan exit have been doing the rounds for some time now even though the young centre-forward has been reluctant to leave it.

The teenager was hoping to get minutes in the final phase of the season to prove himself and earn Xavi’s trust.

However, things have changed now, with the club now ready to send him out on loan for the next season.

Barcelona believe that Vitor Roque, who is only 19 years old, needs to play and get minutes, as well as gain experience in European football, to which he is finding it difficult to adapt.

To do this, they believe that the best way is for him to play for another club where he can play more and gain confidence.

Roque’s agent has some doubts, as he thinks that when you leave Barça, it is difficult to come back. Cases like Fermin Lopez’s, however, should serve as an example for him.

Barça are also facing Fair Play and wage bill problems. Having registered Roque in January due to Gavi’s injury, they would have to formalise the situation in the summer if he were to stay at Barça, which is another problem.

As such, the decision has now been made to send Roque on loan, with the preference being a loan move to La Liga clubs so that the striker can adapt better.

Real Betis, for one, have shown interest in the teenager and could emerge as his next potential club on a temporary basis.
