Barcelona have been extremely focused on strengthening their youth ranks with an eye on the future. It saw them recruit talented prospects like Noah Darvich, Mamadou Mbacke, and Mikayil Faye last summer.

The Catalans continue to monitor other young and promising footballers across the globe, with names like Guilherme Ruck, Estevao Willian, and Matija Popovic on the club’s radars, although the latter is likely to join AC Milan.

Barcelona closing in on another German prodigy

Now, according to reports from BILD, as relayed by SPORT, Barcelona are close to signing another German gem.

After seeing how the operation with Noah Darvich has gone, the Blaugrana are now inching closer to the capture Almugera Kabar from Borussia Dortmund.

Negotiations for the 17-year-old left-back are already at an advanced stage, although the player has some sporting doubts that have slowed down the operation for a bit.

Almugera Kabar is one of Dortmund’s top projects. In fact, he is already training regularly with the first team. He is a very powerful left-back, who can also play as a wing-back or winger on the left flank.

Barcelona have had their eye on him for several months and contacts began in the summer. Now, after the FIFA U-17 World Cup, they hope to be able to finalise the signing. Kabar has a contract with Dortmund until 2025 but could leave for a small fee.

The main handicap is that Kabar has demanded a place in the Blaugrana first team right away. If he joins Barcelona, the left-back would like to take part in the pre-season and train regularly with Xavi’s team during the season.

Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund, in order to convince him, have already tried to bring him into the first team, which could prove to be an issue.
