Current Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez is said to have green-lighted the move himself, with the Real Betis man expected to arrive as a replacement for Oriol Romeu.

Guido Rodriguez waiting for managerial situation to be sorted

Now, SPORT reports that even though there is a verbal agreement in place for Guido Rodriguez to join Barcelona, the midfielder wants the managerial situation at the club resolve before penning the deal.

As it is, Xavi had approved the transfer and Rodriguez knows that the current manager wants him as part of the team next season.

The prospect of playing for Barcelona also appeals and excites the World Cup winner.

However, given the recent uncertainty surrounding Xavi’s future, Rodriguez is bound to have some aspersions.

From the club’s side, it is clear that they want Guido irrespective of whether Xavi stays or not, but the player wants to know who the next manager will be and if he wants the midfielder in his plans.

So, for now, Guido’s transfer could be on a temporary hold until the Catalan heavyweights have resolved the managerial situation at the club.

Names like Hansi Flick, Thomas Tuchel, and Rafa Marquez are some of the potential candidates to replace Xavi while Thiago Motta is also being suggested as a possible replacement.
