One of Barcelona’s primary objectives in this ongoing summer transfer window is to reinforce the midfield department.

To that tune, the club have been linked with moves for superstars such as Joshua Kimmich while Spanish internationals such as Mikel Merino and Martin Zubimendi have also emerged as options.

However, in light of the ongoing economic turmoil, Barcelona are also scouring the market for ‘low-cost’ alternatives.

Lamine Camara: A potential option for Barcelona?

Keeping Barcelona’s economic situation in mind, the club are monitoring the situation of FC Metz’s midfield starlet Lamine Camara.

This is according to Diario SPORT, which suggests that the Senegalese could be an option for Barça, in their bid to sign a cost-effective midfielder this summer.

A central midfielder by trade, Camara has enjoyed immense growth during his time at Metz. He racked up 31 league appearances this past season, but Metz’s relegation has thrown his future into the air.

Will Barcelona make a move for Camara?

Although Barcelona do appear to be monitoring Camara closely, the report clarifies that the Catalans do not intend to make a move for the Senegalese starlet this summer.

The FC Metz midfielder could be available for a fee of around €12 million. But Barça won’t entertain any move, even if there is an option to sign the player on a loan deal with an option to buy.

Hence, it won’t be surprising to see Camara moving elsewhere, with AS Monaco and Galatasaray emerging as potential destinations.

Barcelona, meanwhile, are expected to continue monitoring the midfielder’s progress, knowing he could be a prospect for the future.
