Xavi Hernandez has done an excellent job at Barcelona since replacing Ronald Koeman as manager in November 2021.
The Spaniard recently led Barca to the La Liga title for the first time since 2019 courtesy of a 4-2 victory over Espanyol,
The Catalans also lifted the Supercopa de Espana earlier this season under the 43-year-old.
Although their performances were unconvincing in Europe, Xavi’s first full season as manager will be regarded by many people as successful.
Barca will likely want to continue with him for many more years but they are also aware he cannot be their manager forever.
That’s why the Blaugrana have identified Girona boss Michel as a potential replacement for Xavi in the future, according to SPORT.
Michel, who previously managed Rayo Vallecano and Huesca, has been praised for his excellent work with the club.
The 47-year-old took the job in July 2021 and led his side to La Liga promotion with a victory over CD Tenerife in the play-off final.
Girona have also performed well in the Spanish top-flight this season.
With 13 wins and nine draws from 34 matches, the Catalonia-based outfit are seventh in the table and on track to play in the Europa Conference League next season.
