One of the topmost priorities for FC Barcelona heading into the summer transfer window is the signing of a new left-winger.
Barça manager Hansi Flick and sporting director Deco have identified that strengthening the position is a key necessity and have narrowed down on Liverpool ace Luis Diaz as their preferred target.
The 28-year-old Colombian international is a player that Deco admires a lot and is eager to bring into the fold at the Catalan club.
Now, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, initial talks regarding Barcelona and Luis Diaz over a summer move have already taken place.
The Liverpool winger is seen as a top target for the upcoming transfer window by the La Liga champions despite the likely high overall cost of the deal and the club’s well-known Financial Fair Play problems.

However, at the same time, Diaz is also courting ‘concrete interest’ from Saudi Arabia, which might complicate the situation.
The former FC Porto winger has two years left on his Liverpool contract and even though his market value stands at €85 million, Barcelona expect him to be available for a fee of around €65-70 million.
What will pose a concern is the financial might of clubs in Saudi, where Al-Nassr are showing a keen interest in Diaz as they could offer him a much more lucrative contract than the Blaugrana.
Recent social media posts from Diaz as well as his fiancee have seemingly carried a hint of a farewell to Liverpool, suggesting a summer departure might be on the cards.
With initial talks over a move to Barcelona having taken place, only time will tell if the Colombian ends up arriving in La Liga in the coming weeks.
