La Liga leaders Barcelona are considered the current frontrunners to land highly-regarded Málaga youngster Antoñito Cordero.
That’s according to Relevo transfer insider Matteo Moretto, who has this weekend provided an insight into the situation.
Antoñito, for his part, is an 18-year-old striker, who has long been considered one of Spanish football’s standout up-and-coming talents.
The starlet was the subject of intense interest on the part of Barcelona over the summer, with the Camp Nou hierarchy having gone as far as to table an offer for his services.
In the end, as much was rebuffed by Málaga, determined to secure what they felt was market value in return for their crown jewel.
Following the turn of the year, though, a transfer finally coming to fruition looks increasingly likely.
Ahead of the expiration of Antoñito’s contract in the summer, the brass at La Rosaleda are aware that a January sale must be sanctioned, to ensure any sort of return for the young frontman.
And leading the pack of interested clubs, ahead of Dutch giants Ajax, are the aforementioned Barcelona.
As per a report from Matteo Moretto:
‘Barcelona are the club that have the upper hand.’
