Barcelona are currently busy with their pursuit of Robert Lewandowski. The Pole certainly won’t be the last player to join Camp Nou this summer, with the club also targeting a few more players to further strengthen the first team.

However, in order to add more players to the side, it is essential for Barça to offload their unwanted stars in the coming summer.

The club have recently confirmed the sale of Philippe Coutinho, in a €20 million deal with Aston Villa. The Brazilian is expected to be followed by Clement Lenglet, Miralem Pjanic, Antoine Griezmann and Samuel Umtiti through the exit door.

A recent report from Diario SPORT has mentioned another player who can be offloaded in the coming summer, in the form of Memphis Depay.

It appears the Dutchman has been deemed surplus to the requirements by Xavi and the club are currently prioritising his sale at the end of the season, in order to generate transfer revenue.

Depay had joined Barcelona last summer on a Bosman move from Olympique Lyonnais. He was brought in as the direct replacement for Lionel Messi and was decried as the main protagonist in the club’s rebuild under Ronald Koeman.

However, a lot has changed since with Barcelona appointing Xavi as the new coach and Depay subsequently falling behind in the pecking order.

The Dutchman has struggled with injuries while the addition of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ferran Torres and Adama Traore in January has significantly reduced his game-time.

With Depay’s contract expiring in 2023, Barcelona are aware this could be their final opportunity to cash in on the attacker and generate a decent transfer revenue that will go a long way in helping them further rebuild the squad.

The report suggests Barcelona already have two offers on the table and as we near the summer transfer window, we may soon see the Catalans sanction the sale of the Dutch international.
