Dani Olmo was one of the only two new additions made by FC Barcelona to their team last year. The Spanish midfielder arrived at the club in the 2024 summer transfer window, and had quite a good 2024-25 season.

Despite facing registration issues, which kept him unable to play for the first three league games of the season, the Spaniard was quick to adapt to Hansi Flick’s team and made an instant impact on the pitch.

The Blaugrana club is very satisfied with the midfielder’s performances last season, as he scored 12 goals and provided 7 assists in 39 games.

However, his season was marred by inconsistencies, mainly due to the registration problems he faced at the start of the season and in January, and also by the several injuries he faced throughout the season.

Now, SPORT reports that Barcelona are planning to solve these two issues of registration and physical problems for Olmo, and also change his role in the team, and thus, his second season in Flick’s team can be even more important than his first.

With his registration already sorted out till the end of his contract, the player will be able to perform on the pitch without worrying about off-the-pitch matters. Furthermore, the club will also be keen to make him an important player with his future secure.

Physical plan and tactical change

Meanwhile, the Blaugranes have also designed a special physical plan for the midfielder, similar to the one that helped Pedri get rid of his injuries, which will help Olmo remain more available for Flick throughout the upcoming season.

Furthermore, Flick is also thinking about playing the €60 million-rated Spaniard as a false nine, especially as Nico Williams’ potential arrival will push Raphinha more to the centre, and Olmo will help rest Robert Lewandowski.

Hopefully, all these plans will work out for Dani Olmo and will help him overcome the few deficiencies that were left during his first season at Barcelona.
