While a change was indeed needed in Barcelona, the administration’s handling of the situation can only be termed as shambolic.

Just around a month after persuading Xavi to stay and affirm faith in his project, Joan Laporta axed the Spanish tactician in what came as a shocking development.

It remains unclear to this day as to what created such an irreparable gap between the manager and president, but the situation of Vitor Roque was one such issue that created internal division.

Xavi reportedly did not believe in the youngster after the board squeezed his signing back in January, and the topic of the Brazilian’s future thus took the Spanish media by storm earlier this month.

A new chance?

With Flick now set to arrive, Roque has reason to once again believe that he can succeed at the Catalan capital. His future, however, is still far from clear as reported by SPORT.

The Spanish outlet claim that the Blaugrana administration still believe a loan without a purchase option is the best way forward for Roque, as they do not see him earning many minutes in Robert Lewandowski’s presence.

After all, experience outside Catalonia can help him adapt quicker to European football.

The manager-to-be, Hansi Flick, however, will have the final word on the striker’s future. It is not ruled out that Roque will play preseason with the team before his future is decided.

A complicated situation

Roque only dreams of succeeding in the Catalan capital, but neither the player nor his entourage see a loan with good eyes.

As relayed earlier this month, Roque’s agent insists that the player will only leave on a permanent transfer if he is to go through the exit door.

All eyes now, thus, are on Flick and Deco who must make a decision considering the economic and sporting factors. The door to his continuity is not closed but will depend on the sales in June, especially from the forward department.
