Barcelona have big burnout concerns for Pedri.

Sport says Barça contacted the Spanish FA (RFEF) last week to try to free Pedri from his Olympic Games obligation.

But their request was rejected, with Pedri expected to join the squad for Tokyo after Euro 2020.

His explosion this season has led him to play more than 60 official matches at this point. Untouchable for coach Ronaldo Koeman at Barcelona and a permanent fixture since he debuted with La Roja, the man from Tegueste is young and has exceptional stamina, but that does not mean that there is no concern within Barça.

Barca management are worried about the physical load, but above all about the mental fatigue that the Canarian will suffer.

He will now miss, almost certainly, the first two weeks of the league season. In principle, the RFEF will not call him up in September for games.
