For the last few days, FC Barcelona have been completely occupied with the problem of the registration of two of their players, Dani Olmo and Pau Victor. The Catalans were unable to register them by the 31st December deadline, and thus, the situation has become quite complicated.
The Blaugranes made a significant stride towards the achievement of the objective of registration of these two players yesterday as they successfully returned to the 1:1 rule.
Following this change in status, the Catalans were optimistic that La Liga would register the two players. However, that has not been the case, as the league considers them unregistered, and no player can be registered twice in a single season.
In such a situation, SPORT reports that Barcelona will wait till this weekend and if the duo have not been registered by that time, they will act more forcefully and already have their legal battle ready for this purpose.
For now, Barcelona and La Liga have left it to RFEF’s legal department to interpret whether the rule is applicable to these players or whether the Catalans will have to process a new signing for this purpose.
The Blaugranes have already communicated their arguments for the registration of the duo, and they rely on force majeure to claim that they should have time till 31st January to register them.
Meanwhile, the RFEF also considers the situation to be unfair to Barcelona, but they are reluctant to give the go-ahead for the duo’s registration because of the threat of legal action from other La Liga clubs.
For now, the Catalans will wait till the weekend to see how matters develop, and if their concerns are not eliminated, they will undertake a final legal battle with La Liga.
To address this, they plan to approach the CSD, which is expected to issue a resolution in favor of a precautionary measure to prevent the situation from escalating. If the CSD does not grant such a resolution, Barcelona’s final course of action will be to turn to ordinary justice.
