Barcelona have a new leader in minutes played this season after win over Real Betis | OneFootball

A member of Hansi Flick’s Barcelona squad took ownership of the title of most minutes played for the club this season, on Wednesday night.

Barcelona, of course, were back in action two nights ago.

Fresh off securing their first silverware of the campaign by way of the Spanish Super Cup, the Blaugrana welcomed Real Betis to Catalunya’s capital, for a Copa del Rey clash.

And amongst the star performers en route to an eventual 5-1 rout was defender Jules Koundé.

French international Koundé featured from the off in his customary berth at right-back, going on to find the net, as well as seeing a 2nd goal ruled out for offside.

And, along the way, the former Sevilla man secured for himself an altogether noteworthy individual benchmark.

As revealed by Diario Sport, Koundé has overtaken sidelined teammate Iñigo Martínez as the player with the most minutes on the pitch for Barcelona in 2024/25.

All told, the 26-year-old has now played 2,397 minutes this season.
