The name of Barcelona frontman Vitor Roque has taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Spain late on Saturday evening.

This comes after the Brazilian enjoyed the most dramatic of cameos, during the Blaugrana’s meeting with Alavés.

With Xavi’s visitors in possession of a slender 2-1 advantage, Roque was introduced off the bench at the Estadio Mendizorrotza, in an effort to afford his side a much-needed two-goal cushion.

And, remarkably, just days on from finding the net within 60 seconds of his entry to the pitch against Osasuna, on Saturday, the January arrival at Barcelona was back at it again.

Getting on the end of fellow substitute Héctor Fort’s pull-back, Roque slotted a cool finish into the far bottom corner, to make it two goals in his last two appearances.

And this gave rise to a first look at the youngster’s trademark celebration.

Wheeling away towards the corner flag, Roque threw up his hands and grimaced, imitating a tiger, in reference to his long-held ‘Tigrinho’ nickname.

Few, however, could have predicted what was to come next.

Incredibly, less than 10 minutes after adding his name to the scoresheet, the 18-year-old was given his marching orders.

After attempting to jump over the challenge of an opposing defender, Roque was unlucky to catch the Alavés man with his trailing foot, giving rise to what looked an extremely harsh 2nd yellow card.
