Barcelona general manager Pep Segura admitted that Ousmane Dembélé hasn’t yet settled in at the club, however, he insists that Barcelona will stick by him.
The 21-year-old winger was left out of the squad that lost 4-3 to Real Betis due to a stomach bug that kept him out of training.
However, Dembélé failed to notify the club of his absence and Barcelona spent 90 minutes trying to locate the Frenchman.
It has become clear that Dembélé has an issue with punctuality – something that both Barcelona and France manager Didier Deschamp has been adamant about.
Gerard Piqué has pledged to take Dembélé under his wing and Segura says the club will teach the player how to become a better professional.
“There’s no problem with Dembélé,” said Segura after confirming he met with the player’s agent.
“It’s a normal situation for a young player with a lot of talent who has arrived at a club as big as Barca, full of great players.
“He had never experienced that before and there’s an adaptation process that he has to go through.
“He’s really young and he’s never had to get up to adjust to a playing style like ours. We admit he’s finding it difficult. He also recognises that.
“What we are doing is working as hard as possible so that he can adapt in the best possible way.”
Though Dembélé’s recent bad behaviour has seen him linked with a move elsewhere, including Liverpool, Segura insisted that they the player is not for sale.
“As of today we have no offers for Dembélé and we have no plans to change the structure of the squad,” he added.
