We haven’t heard much about the Marcos Alonso transfer for a while, but we’re now getting updates that seem to move things forwards.

Sport Witness have translated quotes from Spain about Barcelona’s interest in the left back, saying that Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has given his approval to the sale of Alonso.

The Blues are apparently only looking for €10m to sell him, which sounds like a bargain to us. Despite his flaws, he’s got some amazing characteristics and can really improve a team like Barca which tries to play on the front foot and take the game to their opposition.

The latest update says that a meeting has been planned for next week, now that Chelsea’s new structure is in place, and it’s hoped that a deal can be agreed between the two parties when it takes place.

That will leave Chelsea short of a left back, and that’s where the fun really starts.
