Despite club football being on pause due to the March international break, FC Barcelona fans would have been spoiled for choice last night as several FC Barcelona players were in action with the national teams last night.

In this regard, one of the most interesting games for the Catalan club’s fans would have been the UEFA Nations League tie between Spain and the Netherlands.

Pau Cubarsi, Pedri, Lamine Yamal, and Dani Olmo all featured for the Spanish team in this game, while Frenkie de Jong also got on the pitch after returning to his national team after quite some time.

The match ended in a 2-2 draw, leaving everything to fight for in the second leg. However, despite the draw, the game was not without its share of important moments.

One such moment came in the first half, as the Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsi went to the ground due to a sprain and had to be taken off. He was replaced by Dean Huijsen, who made his debut for the Spanish national team against the country where he was born, i.e., the Netherlands.

The young defender’s condition would have certainly raised alarm bells at Barcelona. With Iñigo Martínez already dealing with a physical issue, Christensen yet to recover from his injury, and Ronald Araújo unlikely to return in time from international duty for the upcoming game against Osasuna, Hansi Flick will be left with only Eric García as a natural center-back for this match.

However, as SPORT has reported, the Spanish national team coach talked about Cubarsi, and his words would have reassured the Catalans a bit. Luis de la Fuente believed the youngster could be back in action as soon as next Sunday:

“Cubarsí has a minor discomfort, but it doesn’t seem serious. We believe he’ll be fit for Sunday, but as a precaution in case he doesn’t recover, we will call up Mario Gila (Lazio) tomorrow. Le Normand also has a strong knock, so this way, we cover our bases.”

Hopefully, this would be the case, as he has been a key player for Barcelona this season, and not having him for the last stretch of the season would be a significant blow for Hansi Flick.
