According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona are close to missing out on Ademola Lookman, with the Atalanta forward preferring a move to Inter Milan.
The journalist mentions that after fresh talks with his representatives on Tuesday night, Lookman has made it clear to Atalanta that he wants to leave, and his priority is a switch to Inter.
Inter are now preparing their first official bid, although Atalanta are demanding over €40 million from Italian clubs.
Negotiations are expected to intensify in the coming days, with Lookman’s move to San Siro looking increasingly likely.
Barcelona had shortlisted Lookman as a serious option after missing out on Nico Williams, who renewed with Athletic Club.
The Catalan side also explored moves for Luis Diaz and Marcus Rashford, but financial constraints and competition from other clubs have complicated both pursuits.

Lookman was seen as a realistic and strategic signing for Barça. On the pitch, his pace, direct attacking style, and goal-scoring ability made him a perfect fit for Hansi Flick’s system.
Off the pitch, his rising popularity, especially among African fans, presented valuable commercial opportunities for the club in new markets.
However, as has happened too often in recent transfer windows, Barcelona hesitated, leaving the door open for rivals to swoop in.
While Inter are moving quickly, Barça have remained caught between high-cost targets and financial restrictions, unable to finalise a clear plan.
With Juventus already making enquiries for Rashford and Diaz financially out of reach, Barcelona’s winger shortlist is quickly evaporating.
If Lookman joins Inter, it will be yet another case of the club failing to close a deal due to indecision and market complications.
As of now, the pressure is mounting on Barcelona’s board. The need to sign a top winger this summer is growing urgent, but the options are rapidly disappearing.
