Barcelona Femení booked a spot in the Supercopa final after beating rivals Real Madrid Femenino 1-0.
Scorers: Putellas 90+1′
It took right until the end for Barcelona to earn Clásico bragging rights against their rivals in the Supercopa semi-final on Wednesday.
The reigning treble winners lunged forward in attack right from the start with numerous attempts from Lieke Martens and Fridolina Rolfö falling short of finding the net early on.
With Barcelona pulling the strings, Real Madrid’s defence was called into action with goalkeeper Misa, in particular, making a strong save to deny the Swede and then stopping Patricia Guijarro moments later.
By half-time, things stood 0-0 despite the dominance from the hosts.
Coming out after the break Barcelona continued to ramp up the pressure with Alexia Putellas and Jennifer Hermoso trying their luck. More dying saves from Misa, however, keep them at bay.
Meanwhile down at the other end Real Madrid’s had glimpses of finding a breakthrough with Athenea del Castillo and Claudia Zornoza coming close.
It looked as though the match would head into extra-time until Putellas scored right at the death to see Barcelona move on to the finals.
