FC Barcelona Femení’s star midfielder, Alexia Putellas, has been ruled out for approximately three weeks after spraining her left ankle during a training session. The club confirmed the injury following medical tests, dealing a temporary blow to the team as they continue their campaign in multiple competitions.
Despite this setback, Putellas has been in top form this season. In Liga F, she has made 14 appearances, scoring nine goals and providing seven assists.
Her impact has also been felt in the UEFA Women’s Champions League, where she has netted three goals in five matches. Additionally, she played a crucial role in Barcelona Femení’s Spanish Super Cup triumph, scoring in the final against arch-rivals Real Madrid.
The absence of Putellas comes at a critical time for Barcelona as they continue their push for domestic and European glory. While the team boasts a deep squad, her leadership and playmaking abilities will be missed.
Fans and teammates will be hoping for a swift recovery, with the Spanish international expected to return in time for the crucial stages of the season.
