Earlier this week, it was reported that Barcelona were in talks to sign highly-rated Ecuadorian youngster Allen Obando. A delegation from Obando’s club, Barcelona Sporting Club de Guayaquil, had been in the Catalan capital, and there were even some reports of medical tests taking place.

However, Sport say that Barcelona sources have denied that a deal for Obando is close to being completed. Furthermore, they are “very surprised and disappointed” by statements coming from Ecuador that have said otherwise – they also “feel used” by the teenager’s representatives because of these public steps that have been taken.

Barcelona are interested in Obando, although he is only one of many that the sporting department is keeping tabs on. For now, that is as far as things have gone.

Obando could still end up as a Barcelona player in the coming years, although interest in his services has been shown by Paris Saint-Germain and the Red Bull football group. However, sources from within the Catalan club expect that if a move is made, they would have a very good chance of securing his signature.
