Pedri Gonzalez is having a monstrous season for Barcelona. The Spaniard has drop-jaw displays on an almost weekly basis. Now, subsequent to his match in the Ciutat de Valencia, there are fans who are reminiscing about Lionel Messi.

This image especially reminds them of the Argentine during another three-goal win all the way back in 2017. In the match against Levante, Pedri lost his boot, but continued the move with his left foot, an image reminiscent of Messi against Real Madrid in the Clasico.

Pedri is in his second season in Barcelona and is already looking like a veteran. Ever since the departure of Messi, the Barça number 16 has been a stronger offensive figure in the club. Evidence of this is his three goals in his last five matches, the same tally as his previous 46 matches.

This season Pedri has scored some sumptuous goals. In Turkey, he made two body feints and slotted the ball into the back of the net to secure the tie.

Against Sevilla, in a similar move but from longer range, he floored two of Sevilla’s defenders and nimbly put the ball through Yassine Bono’s net. His finish over the weekend was as instinctive as one could ask, as he, on a one time shot, expertly beat Dani Cardenas.

The pick of the bunch has to be his goal against Valencia. Pedri received an intercepted pass from an attempted dribble by Ferran Torres. With nobody to pass to, he let out a venomous strike, well past Giorgi Manadashvill from outside the penalty box.

Sounds of awe emanated from the Valencian stands and understandably so; it was a mesmeric finish.

With the 19-year-old, Barcelona in LaLiga are invincible. He has played eleven games, and with the garnet and blue, has won nine of them, with all these goals playing a crucial role in the victories.

On their seventh win in a row, Barça will need more such finishes from Pedri to keep them going.
