Roony Bardghji was one of Barcelona’s standout performers in pre-season, staking a strong claim to become Lamine Yamal’s main alternative on the right wing.
But despite his performances, the club’s ongoing financial fair play restrictions mean the 19-year-old summer signing’s registration with the first team is far from guaranteed, with only 10 days left in the transfer window.
Indeed, according to SPORT, at present, the situation regarding the registration of the Swedish winger is complicated.
Several other players are ahead of Bardghji on the registration priority list, and even assigning him a reserve-team spot would not solve the problem, as it would still impact Barça’s wage cap.
The Catalans’ intention is to keep him, but securing his place in the squad is proving a major challenge.
On Friday, Bardghji featured for Barça Atletic against Atletic Lleida in a behind-closed-doors match. He scored from the penalty spot, calmly converting with a panenka, underlining once again his quality.

Yet his long-term future does not lie in Spain’s fourth tier. Barça Atletic’s relegation to Segunda RFEF has already driven some prospects to seek opportunities elsewhere, wary of stagnating in a league far below their level.
Bardghji, who has UEFA Champions League experience, is understandably reluctant to settle there.
A loan move for Bardghji has been discussed as a fallback option if registration hurdles persist.
However, there are regulatory complications: Spanish federation rules prevent a player from being loaned or transferred if they have not first been registered with their current club.
This same issue arose in the past with Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, leaving Barcelona with limited flexibility.
For now, Barça remain determined to find a way. The Blaugrana are delighted with Bardghji’s signing and his immediate impact, but unless a solution is reached quickly, both player and management could be facing an uncomfortable stand-off as the window ticks down.
