Jonathan Tah is gearing up for an important summer ahead. The Bayer Leverkusen star’s contract at the club expires at the end of the season, with the player set to leave on a free transfer in the summer.
Barcelona have emerged as one of the potential destinations for Tah, as he looks to take the next step in his career.
A recent report from Diario SPORT has offered an update on Tah’s future, highlighting the fact that the German is putting pressure on Barça to make a decision.
The Catalans have not yet finalised whether or not they can approach Tah this summer, primarily on account of uncertainties around their salary bill and Financial Fair Play margin.
Due to the club’s inflated wage bill, Barça are relying on the sale of at least one of their defenders other than Andreas Christensen, in order to be able to make a move for Tah.
If all their defenders, excluding Christensen, remain at the club, Barcelona will not be in a position to approach Tah.

To that end, Barça can sign Tah if they can facilitate the sale of Ronald Araujo, but that could be tricky considering the player’s high market value.
One potential solution for the Catalans could be an agreement mirroring the Ilkay Gundogan deal, whereby the player would have the right to leave for free if he is not registered by a certain date.
However, it must be noted that Premier League clubs remain determined to sign Tah on a free transfer and would put pressure on Barcelona to make the move quickly.
Tah, for his part, feels he must put pressure on Barça as well. But he is well aware of the ongoing situation and is willing to wait for the Catalans. But the time is surely running out for the Blaugrana.
