The transfer team at La Liga giants Barcelona have turned their attentions towards the Premier League, amid the club’s ongoing search for summer reinforcements.
The latest player to have made his way onto the Blaugrana’s radar? Kaoru Mitoma.
Wide-man Mitoma, for his part, has long stood as a key piece of the attacking puzzle under the watch of Roberto De Zerbi at Brighton & Hove Albion.
After racking up a solid haul of 10 goals and eight assists across all competitions last season, the Japanese international has since followed up with a further three goals and six assists this term, too.
And such production, coupled with Mitoma’s flair and excellence in one-on-one situations, appears to have piqued attentions at one of European football’s biggest clubs.
As per a report from Diario Sport, the 26-year-old has long been ‘followed’ by Deco and his team at Barcelona.
Keen to reinforce the club’s left flank with a view to next season, a summer proposal for Mitoma, as a result, is being given serious consideration.
Such an operation could also have a major effect on an attacker currently on Barca’s books, in the form of Ansu Fati.
This comes with the Spanish starlet on loan at Brighton, and the Blaugrana brass considering offering his signature up on a permanent basis, to bring Mitoma’s asking price down.
