Barcelona are confident of pulling off the signing of Paul Pogba but not until next summer.

Pogba is believed to be unhappy with life at Manchester United under José Mourinho and open to the idea of leaving the club.

United don’t want to lose the World Cup winner but according to Catalan outlet Sport, Barça believe they’ve managed to turn his head and he is expected to move to join them this time next year.

In fact, the Blaugrana want two new midfielders next summer and Pogba could be joined at Camp Nou by either Ajax’s Frenkie de Jong or Paris Saint-Germain’s Adrien Rabiot.

De Jong confirmed earlier this week that he will be staying at Ajax for the rest of the season, but the 21-year-old refused to rule out the possibility of joining Barcelona in the future.

Rabiot, meanwhile, has entered the final 12 months of his contract at PSG and will be free to negotiate a free transfer to another club from January onwards.

Last summer, Barcelona missed out on the signing of Philippe Coutinho but eventually managed to sign the Brazilian from Liverpool when the transfer window re-opened in January.

It will be interesting to see whether they try a similar approach with Pogba in three months time.
