In a recent report, Fichajes claimed that Barcelona have entered the race to land Paul Pogba from Manchester United. However, it is believed that the Catalan club could face competition in the form of Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid in pursuit of the French midfield ace whose contract at Old Trafford is set to run out at the end of this campaign.

Pogba’s Excellent Form For Man United Over The Past 18 Months

Pogba had an encouraging season at Old Trafford recently and has continued to flourish as a key member of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first team so far in this campaign. The Frenchman has picked up seven assists in five matches for the Red Devils this season across various competitions.

The ex-Juventus talent did well to find the back of the net on six occasions and secure nine assists in 42 appearances for Man United in the previous campaign on all fronts. Pogba proved himself to be a valuable contributor by averaging 1.4 tackles, 1.0 interceptions, 1.4 clearances, 1.2 shots, 1.0 key passes and 1.7 dribbles per 90 minutes in Premier League football last season. The 28-year-old even distributed possession accurately from midfield based on his pass completion rate of 83% in the English first division (stats via whoscored).

Pogba is currently operating at the top of his game and is more than capable of making an immediate impact at the Nou Camp if Barca can devise a way to win the chase for his services in January or next summer.

What Will Pogba Bring To The Nou Camp?

Pogba can be a solid tackler of the ball and earn possession back for his team when he is willing to put in a shift. He is more renowned for his skills on the ball as he has made a habit of completing some powerful dribbles in the opposition half.

The France international can shoot the ball with power and accuracy, which makes him a goal-threat from long range. He has transformed himself into an excellent playmaker at the Theatre of Dreams over the past couple of seasons.

At 28, Pogba has still got plenty of football left in him and could be a shrewd acquisition for the Catalans if they can convince him to seal a move to the Nou Camp as a free agent next summer. He will undoubtedly bring a lot of goals and creativity to Ronald Koeman’s midfield. However, it remains to be seen whether Barca has got enough room in their wage bill to accommodate a player of Pogba’s demands in the future.
