Barcelona’s strong run of seven straight wins came to a halt just before the international break when the team slipped up against Real Sociedad in La Liga and fell to a 1-0 defeat.

The loss, needless to say, stands out as a black mark on the team’s record for November which was going strong after the team beat Espanyol in the league and Crvena Zvezda in the UEFA Champions League.

Having suffered an unexpected defeat, Barcelona thus do not have significant representation for the La Liga awards for the month of November with none of Lamine Yamal, Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha nominated for the best player tag this time.

Two nominees

As revealed earlier today by La Liga, only one Barcelona player is in contention to take home the Player of the Month accolade for November – Dani Olmo.

The La Masia graduate, after all, scored a brace against Espanyol in the Catalan derby earlier this month and his showing on the night was sufficient to earn him the nomination.

Also nominated in the category are Vinicius Jr, Takefusa Kubo, Arnau Martinez and Giuliano Simeone.

Also enjoying a nomination this month is Marc Casado who is one of the players shortlisted for the Best under-23 Player category and would appear to be the favourite.

He faces competition from Fabio Silva, Luka Sucic, Barcelona loanee Vitor Roque and Javi Rodriguez.

The Blaugrana return to action against Celta Vigo later this week at Municipal de Balaidos and will look to get back to winning ways. Later in the month, they face off against Brest and Las Palmas.
