Barcelona dressing room unhappy with Griezmann’s post match comments | OneFootball

As per a report from Cadena SER, Antoine Griezmann’s Barcelona teammates are unhappy with his comments following Barcelona’s Supercopa final loss to Athletic Club Bilbao. Barcelona had their first shot at silverware this season on Sunday night. However, a last minute equaliser from Asier Villalibre and an extra time strike from Iñaki Williams spelled out defeat for the Azulgranas.

After the match Griezmann was visibly frustrated. The Frenchman spoke was very vocal in his criticism of the team. He wanted more communication and desire from his teammates.

“We didn’t defend well, we didn’t talk… When the ball goes out, someone has to shout” , said the 29 year old.

The Supercup would have provided a vital boost in morale heading into the remainder of the season. Barcelona played a dull game against Athletic Club. Griezmann however, was the Catalans’ liveliest player. He scored two goals to give Barça the lead twice in each half. Unfortunately though, the late goals and Lionel Messi’s sending off meant Marcelino Garcia’s Lions took the trophy home.

There was visible frustration amid the Barça camp after the loss. Griezmann also lashed out at the media when asked how the side felt after letting the match slip.

“How do you think we are? We are pissed off, angry, annoyed. When you lose a final, you have all these bad feelings,” Griezmann replied.

Reports coming in suggest that certain members of the Barcelona dressing room have not taken kindly to Griezmann’s statements. According to the report, some believe these words were targeted towards Marc Andre Ter Stegen. However, Griezmann has every right to criticize the collective for letting this match slip. Barça must now reset as they turn their attention to UE Cornella in the Copa Del Rey in 2 days’ time.
