Earlier this week, Barcelona president Joan Laporta had a meeting with Valencia officials Anil Murthy and Joey Lim during which transfers of several players were discussed by the two clubs.

The names of Barcelona targets Carlos Soler and Jose Gaya were talked about, with reports even claiming that the Blaugrana rejected the chance to sign the pair in a deal worth a combined fee of €60 million.

At the same time, Barça themselves put forth the names of some of their players that are not in the plans for the next season, such as Martin Braithwaite, Riqui Puig and Sergino Dest.

Now, Mundo Deportivo is claiming that another player came up in discussions between Barcelona and Valencia on Tuesday in the form of Los Che forward Goncalo Guedes.

The versatile Portuguese attacker has been at the Mestalla since 2017 when he initially arrived on loan from Paris Saint-Germain before joining permanently a year later. While his career has not hit the heights expected, the 25-year-old’s stock still remains quite high.

Guedes has scored 13 goals and setup six more in 41 matches in all competitions for Valencia this term. Able to play as a centre-forward, a secondary striker or on either flank, the Portuguese international will see his contract expire next year.

And Valencia are open to cashing in on him in the summer and are demanding a sum of €40 million for the forward. The report states that Guedes’ name was discussed during the meeting with Laporta, although it does not necessarily mean Barça have a concrete interest.

Atletico Madrid are more interested in the 25-year-old, although they are yet to present Valencia with any offer, leaving the door open for Barcelona to swoop in, if they wish to do so in the summer.

However, as things stand, there is not much to Barcelona’s interest in Guedes, with the Portuguese just another name on the list heading into the transfer window.
